I trained in respiratory & general medicine in London at various district hospitals, Royal Brompton Hospital and finally at St George's hospital where I was subsequently appointed as a consultant with a remit to develop interstitial lung disease sub specialisation and a rapid access service at Queen Mary's, Roehampton. My research interest was in occupational lung disease, specifically respiratory hypersensitivity to workplace chemicals. Whilst at St George's I spent six months training in adult intensive care and became an advanced life support instructor.
