Mr.D. Banerjee
Consultant Breast and General Surgeon.

Mr Dibyesh Banerjee is a full-time Consultant Surgeon at St George's Hospital, London. He is a member of the Association of Breast Surgeons at the British Association of Surgical Oncology (BASO) and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine. He holds specialist registration with the GMC. His main sub-specialty interest is in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, which is a rapidly developing surgical subspecialty. This branch of surgery encompasses all aspects of breast cancer surgery, combining the best principles of cancer surgery with the best techniques of reconstruction.

He underwent his sub-specialist training at the Oncoplastic Breast Unit in Winchester and at the Cardiff Breast Unit in Wales. His international experience includes Sentinel Node Biopsy training at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York and a Travelling Fellowship at the Winship Cancer Institute and Crawford Long Hospital, Emory University, Atlanta. He has also attended training courses at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan and the Jersey Breast Reduction Masterclass.

His research interest includes immuhistochemistry of acute surgical wounds in breast cancer patients and he has written his Doctor of Medicine (MD) thesis on this subject. He maintains an active interest in the management of difficult-to-heal wounds and chronic ulcers, having worked at the Wound Healing Research Unit, now under the auspices of Cardiff University. He has published many papers and given international presentations and guest lectures, and has contributed chapters in medical textbooks.
