Mr Guidubaldo Querci della Rovere was born in Venice on the 27.3.46. He is married with two daughters. He graduated in Medicine at Padua University in 1971 and obtained a diploma of specialist in general surgery at the same University in 1976. In 1976-77 he won a scholarship of The International Rotary Foundation and spent a year at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. In 1978, after a brief return to Italy, he decided to move to England permanently where he worked as a registrar, mainly at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
In 1987 he was appointed clinical assistant to the first Breast Screening Unit created in the United Kingdom, at St Margaret's Hospital, Epping, Essex.
He is at present Consultant Surgeon to The Royal Marsden Hospital where he was appointed in 1994. His main field of activity is the diagnosis and surgical management of breast cancer with particular interest in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the breast. He is author of several articles on oncology, Co-editor of a book on Early breast cancer and Co-editor of a book on plastic and reconstructive surgery of the breast.
Mr Querci della Rovere is Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of England, Member of the British Breast Group, Fellow of The Royal Society of Medicine, Member of The British Association of Surgical Oncology, Member of The European Society of Mastology, Fellow of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland and Member of The European Surgical Society of Oncology. He is also past President and Founding Member of The Italian Medical Society of Great Britain.
In 2002 he was awarded by the President of the Italian Republic the honours of Commendatore dell'Ordine al Merito della Republica Italiana.
