And they're off! Our brave volunteers have begun their expedition to climb Mount. Kilimanjaro in order to raise money for St. Raphael's Hospice on its 25th anniversary year.
They are being led by Roger Davies, a keen adventurer who has climbed Kilimanjaro previously. A Cheam resident and former patient of St. Anthony's, Roger has also trekked to the north pole, rowed in a team from London to Paris and was part of the Queen's Diamond jubiliee pagaent flotilla, in addition to a series of further expeditions.
So our volunteers are in safe and experienced company then!
We've had word from the team, having arrived in Africa following an overnight flight. They were all exhausted following the long flight and a bumpy safari ride across the grasslands of Kenya and Tanzania, but enthused about the prospect of conquering the mountain!
