St Anthony's is a different sort of 'private hospital' in a number of respects. To begin with, we carry out a significant number of complex procedures in addition to more routine day surgery. We are a major centre for cardiothoracic surgery and have strong representation in most other specialities including orthopaedics, general, colorectal, bariatric and vascular surgery, urology, gynaecology, gastroenterology, general medicine and plastic surgery.
We respond quickly. If you have a patient who needs urgent admission (but not 'blue light') our Bookings Office, or when the office is closed, the Senior Nursing Officer, will put you in touch with an appropriate consultant who can arrange to admit the patient without delay and initiate investigation/treatment. In Intensive Care we have resident anaesthetists and an on-call rota of consultant intensivists who provide 24 hour cover.
Our commitment to delivering high quality healthcare is reflected in some of the most advanced diagnostic equipment including cardiac MRI, CT and cardiac catheterisation, high quality theatre instruments and the retention of on-site pathology, blood, and sterile services at a time when many hospitals are outsourcing them.
We focus on the needs of the patient. The hospital is a registered charity and the religious Sisters who own it have served the local community for over 100 years. Their dedication shapes the ethos of the hospital from its welcoming environment to the striving after excellence in all that we do.
