10 July 12
St. Anthony's has received the gold standard in the second national audit of laparoscopic (keyhole) surgical equipment. It is part of our policy to ensure that our equipment is kept up-to-date and adheres to the highest standards. This reflects the importance that the Sisters of the Congregation of the Daughters of the Cross, the charity which owns the hospital, attach to providing healthcare which is centred around the needs of the patient.
Laparoscopic surgery is used for vast amounts of gastrointestinal and abdominal operations and can provide patients with a number of benefits when compared with conventional surgery such as smaller areas of scarring, less pain and rapid recovery.
