Mr Dibyesh Banerjee is a full-time Consultant Surgeon at St George's Hospital, London. He is a member of the Association of Breast Surgeons at the British Association of Surgical Oncology (BASO) and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine. He holds specialist registration with the GMC. His main sub-specialty interest is in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, which is a rapidly developing surgical subspecialty. This branch of surgery encompasses all aspects of breast cancer surgery, combining the best principles of cancer surgery with the best techniques of reconstruction.
He underwent his sub-specialist training at the Oncoplastic Breast Unit in Winchester and at the Cardiff Breast Unit in Wales. His international experience includes Sentinel Node Biopsy training at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York and a Travelling Fellowship at the Winship Cancer Institute and Crawford Long Hospital, Emory University, Atlanta. He has also attended training courses at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan and the Jersey Breast Reduction Masterclass.
His research interest includes immuhistochemistry of acute surgical wounds in breast cancer patients and he has written his Doctor of Medicine (MD) thesis on this subject. He maintains an active interest in the management of difficult-to-heal wounds and chronic ulcers, having worked at the Wound Healing Research Unit, now under the auspices of Cardiff University. He has published many papers and given international presentations and guest lectures, and has contributed chapters in medical textbooks.

Antony Chilvers was, until recently, senior surgeon at St Helier Hospital. He now practices exclusively at St Anthony’s Hospital, where he has worked ever since the new hospital first opened.
In 1989, he introduced laparoscopic general surgery into St Helier and St Anthony’s. He performed the first laparoscopic cholecystectomy in both hospitals.
Having worked at the Mayo Clinic with Professor Code in the Department of Gastro-intestinal Physiology, he has a considerable interest in the treatment of hiatus hernia and, in particular, the laparoscopic correction of this condition.
He has performed over 4,000 laparoscopic cholecystectomies and 2,000 laparoscopic hernia repairs. His interests also include the laparoscopic repair of rectal prolapse.
Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) and excessive blushing can also be treated, in certain cases, by laparoscopic surgery and he has longstanding experience in this field.

Clinical Interests
Treatment of Crohns disease, ulcerative colitis, colorectal cancer, advanced and recurrent bowl cancer, IBS and faecal incontinence. Endoscopic procedures; colonoscopy, gastroscopy and day case surgery.
Professor Kumar qualified from the University of Delhi in 1975, and completed his surgical training at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for sick children, The Royal London Hospital, The North Hampshire Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. He then completed his training obtaining a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in the USA. In 1989 he was appointed as consultant senior lecturer in surgery at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. In 1994 he took up a position at St George’s Hospital, London as Consultant Surgeon and was appointed Professor of Gastrointestinal Surgery in 2004.
As well as his work with Crohns disease, colitis and bowel cancer, Professor Kumar has developed a special interest in the management of pelvic floor disorders.
He has published more than one hundred original papers and reviews in national and international journals, written more than fifty book chapters and has authored/edited six books.
Professor Kumar gives regular guest and keynote lectures at National and international meetings. With his team of colleagues and patients he has set up a charity, www.boweldisease.org.uk (opens in new window) to raise funds to do research into bowel diseases.

Mr Dhiren Nehra FRCS; MPhil (with specialist interest in Gastro-intestinal & Pancreato-Biliary Surgery) Epsom and St Helier Hospitals and St Anthony’s Hospital.

Dhiren Nehra has been working with the Epsom and St Helier Trust since 1999 with clinical sessions at both hospitals. He has been the Cancer Specialist for the SW Thames Upper GI Cancer Network. He graduated in Bombay with MS in General Surgery and underwent Higher Training in Wales in Upper GI surgery culminating in MPhil Thesis on Bile Reflux in Barrett’s Oesophagus. He gained further experience at University Hospital California, Los Angeles where he spent a years training in the Foregut Unit under Dr DeMeester and also visited the Gastric Cancer Unit at the National Cancer Hospital in Tokyo.
His current clinical practice includes most aspects of day-case general surgery (hernia, varicose veins, anorectal, lumps etc) in addition to specialist gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery.

Mr Fausto Palazzo is consultant endocrine surgeon at Hammersmith & Charing Cross Hospitals. He specialises in minimal access and re-operative thyroid and parathyroid surgery and laparoscopic adrenal surgery. He has a special interest in endocrine syndromes and neck lump surgery.
He trained in general surgery in London and in endocrine surgery at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney (TS Reeve Fellow 2003) and at La Timone, Marseille (British Association of Endocribne Surgery Travelling Fellow 2004).
He has been awarded a Master of Surgery (MS) for endocrine research at St Bartholomew's Hospital and has published widely. He is on the faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons of England/British Association of Endocrine Surgery Masterclass and regularly peer reviews for international journals.

Marcus Reddy is Consultant Surgeon at St George's Hospital. He is the lead Upper GI Surgeon at St George's and developed the South Thames Bariatric Service which is preferred provider for NHS bariatric surgery in the region.
Mr Reddy trained in London and Australia where he trained in upper GI surgery, liver transplant, hepatobiliary surgery and laparoscopic surgery. His NHS and private practice spans a range of laparoscopic and open general surgery. He has a particular interest in laparoscopic gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, Roux en Y gastric bypass, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic and open hernia repairs. He performs anti-reflux surgery such as laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication and surgery for achalasia for local and regional patients.
Mr Reddy has published on management of biliary injuries following cholecystectomy, unusual hernias such as interparietal hernias and also follow-up of hernia repairs performed with pre-peritoneal techniques.
He performs cholecystectomy and hernia repairs as day-case when appropriate and uses non-diathermy techniques such as Ultracision Harmonic Scalpel to avoid electrical conduction complications in laparoscopic surgery.
