NEW SPECIALIST CLINIC SERVICES
Major improvements to the Breastcare service at St. Anthony’s will mean faster access to testing and results for symptomatic women. A new self-referral screening service is also open to women over 40 years without symptoms, who have not had a mammogram within the last 12 months. State-of-the-art facilities are now available for management of all breast-related conditions, including cosmetic breast surgery.
ONE-STOP CLINIC
From mid-April, a new breast clinic on Monday evenings will provide a clinical examination by a consultant breast surgeon, diagnostic imaging and, if appropriate, aspiration or biopsy at a single visit. At other times during the week, a consultant breast surgeon can be seen and any necessary investigations completed within a week.
Telephone 020 8335 4678 / 9 for appointments.
SELF-REFERRAL BREAST SCREENING
Women over 40 years without symptoms are able to self-refer for screening, provided that it is more than 12 months since they last had a mammogram. Imaging will be carried out by a radiographer who specialises in mammography – and the images reported by two consultant radiologists who have particular expertise in Breast Radiology. A CD containing the images will be given to the patient and results sent to her GP – so that if any areas of concern are detected, appropriate referrals can be made without delay.
For a screening appointment telephone 020 8337 6691 and ask for the X-ray department.
St. Anthony’s Hospital is a Bupa-approved Breastcare Centre.
